Solar PV Installation
Accredited Commercial Solar Panel Installers Scotland
Commercial solar is an engineering challenge, not just an electrical one. Greentech Scotland specializes in the design and installation of high-yield commercial solar PV systems for industrial metal roofs, flat roofing, and complex retrofits. From 50kW systems to 1MW+ arrays, we deliver robust, wind-load calculated installations that preserve your roof warranties and withstand the Scottish climate.

Engineered Mounting Solutions
The integrity of your roof is paramount. We utilize lightweight, aerodynamic mounting gear specifically designed for industrial roofing profiles. Our structural engineers calculate wind uplift and static load to ensure every system is safe and compliant.
1

Trapezoidal & Standing Seam
For standard industrial units, we use rail-less rivet racking systems or non-penetrative clamps for standing seam roofs.
Benefit
Drastically reduces roof weight (approx. 12kg/m²) and installation time.
Sealing
EPDM rubber gaskets ensure a 100% watertight seal on all fixings.
2

Flat Roof Ballast Systems
For office blocks and retail units with Single Ply or EPDM membranes, we deploy aerodynamic ballast systems.
Benefit
Non-penetrative installation means no drilling into the waterproof membrane.
Safety
Wind deflectors reduce the amount of ballast weight required, protecting the structural deck.
3

Ground Mounted Arrays
If roof space is limited or structurally compromised, we design ground-mounted solar frames for adjacent land.
Benefit
Ideal for high-consumption manufacturing sites with available land.
Construction
Ram-driven piled frames eliminate the need for concrete foundations, speeding up deployment.

Managing the DNO Connection (G99)
Connecting a commercial system (over 3.68kW) to the grid requires formal permission from the Distribution Network Operator (DNO). This is often the biggest bottleneck in commercial solar projects. We manage the entire G99 application process on your behalf.
1
Load & Fault Level Analysis
We assess your site's Maximum Demand and existing supply capacity to determine if the local grid can accept your export.
2
G99 / G100 Submission
We submit the complex engineering schematics to SP Energy Networks or SSEN. If the grid is constrained, we design a G100 Export Limitation scheme to restrict export while allowing full self-consumption.
3
Witness Testing
Upon completion, we liaise with the DNO engineers to perform the final G99 Witness Test, ensuring the system disconnects safely during a power cut (anti-islanding protection).
Tier-1 Hardware Specification
We do not use unbranded imports. We partner with bankable, Tier-1 manufacturers to ensure your system performs for 25+ years.

High-Efficiency Panels
We install the latest N-Type TopCon solar modules from manufacturers like JA Solar and Trina. These panels offer higher efficiency in low-light conditions (crucial for Scottish winters) and degrade slower than standard PERC panels.
Inverters & Optimisers
The inverter is the brain of the system. We specify commercial units from SolarEdge and Fronius that offer panel-level monitoring. This allows your Facilities Manager to see exactly which panel is underperforming (e.g., due to bird droppings) via a cloud-based app.
Don't Waste Your Generation
Most industrial sites export up to 30% of their generation back to the grid for pennies. By integrating commercial battery storage, you can capture this energy and discharge it during peak tariff windows (4pm - 7pm), avoiding expensive "Red Band" charges.

Resilience & Backup
For critical infrastructure, we can configure battery systems to provide Emergency Power Supply (EPS), keeping essential servers and lighting running during a grid failure.

Solar PV Installation FAQs
Do I need to shut down power during installation?
We can complete 95% of the mechanical and electrical installation while your site remains live. A short shutdown (typically 1-2 hours) is required for the final connection of the solar AC cable into your main distribution board. We schedule this out-of-hours (evenings or weekends) to ensure zero disruption to your business operations.
How long does a G99 application take?
The DNO (Distribution Network Operator) has a statutory timeframe of 45 working days to respond to a standard G99 application. However, for complex connections or constrained areas requiring grid studies, this can take up to 90 days. We recommend starting this process immediately, even before the final system design is frozen.
Can you install solar panels on an asbestos roof?
Direct installation onto asbestos is possible but complex. We typically recommend over-sheeting or using specialist fixings that anchor into the underlying steel structure rather than the asbestos sheet itself. We treat every asbestos roof as a unique engineering challenge and will provide a specific risk assessment and method statement (RAMS) for safe working.H3: How long does a G99 application take?
What is the weight loading of a commercial solar system?
A standard roof-parallel system for a trapezoidal metal roof typically weighs between 12kg and 15kg per square meter. Ballasted systems for flat roofs are heavier, typically 20kg to 40kg per square meter depending on the wind zone and building height. We conduct a full structural calculation prior to installation to ensure your roof has adequate reserve capacity.
