Testing & Compliance (EICR)
Statutory Electrical Compliance & EICR Testing
Protecting your people, property, and insurance validity. We provide comprehensive Fixed Wire Testing (BS 7671) and non-intrusive thermal surveys for Scotland’s critical industrial assets.

The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989: Your Responsibility
Electrical safety is not optional; it is a statutory requirement. As a Business Director or Facilities Manager, you are defined as the "Duty Holder" under the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989. You are legally responsible for ensuring that all electrical systems within your premises are maintained in a safe condition to prevent danger.
Failure to demonstrate compliance through a valid Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) can have severe consequences. Beyond the immediate risk of fire or electric shock to your staff, a lack of up-to-date certification will almost certainly invalidate your commercial insurance policy, leaving your business exposed to financial ruin and potential prosecution in the event of an incident.
Greentech acts as your compliance shield. We ensure your documentation is audit-ready, 365 days a year.
A Complete Compliance Ecosystem
We do not just "tick boxes." We deploy rigorous engineering standards to inspect, test, and verify every component of your electrical infrastructure.
1

Fixed Wire Testing (EICR)
The EICR is the MOT for your building’s electrical system. Our NICEIC-approved engineers conduct a meticulous inspection of your Main LV Distribution, Sub-Mains, and Final Circuits. We test for hidden damage, loose connections, and overloaded circuits that threaten stability.
100% Circuit Identification
We trace and label every circuit, updating your distribution board charts to ensure future maintenance is safe and easy.
BS 7671:2018 Standards
All testing is strictly aligned with the latest IET Wiring Regulations (18th Edition).
2

Thermal Imaging Surveys (Thermography)
Electrical faults often generate heat long before they cause a failure. Greentech utilizes advanced Thermal Imaging Cameras to scan your distribution boards and switchgear under load. This non-intrusive technology allows us to "see" invisible hotspots caused by loose connections or phase imbalances.
Pre-Emptive Safety
By identifying these faults early, we can schedule repairs during planned downtime, preventing catastrophic fires and unplanned outages.
3

Emergency Lighting Compliance
In the event of a power failure, your staff rely on Emergency Lighting to evacuate safely. We provide statutory Annual Duration Testing to BS 5266 standards. We discharge your batteries for the full rated duration (typically 3 hours) to ensure they will perform when it matters most, identifying any failed luminaires or batteries for immediate replacement.
4

Portable Appliance Testing (PAT)
From the kettle in the canteen to the power tools on the factory floor, we ensure every handheld asset is safe. We manage your Asset Register, labeling every item with a "Pass" status and re-test date to satisfy Health & Safety auditors.
Compliance Without the Downtime
For Operations Managers in high-output sectors like Manufacturing and Logistics, turning the power off is not an option. A standard 9-to-5 electrician cannot service your site without halting your production line.Greentech is different. We specialize in Out-of-Hours Testing. Our compliance teams are deployed on evening shifts, night shifts, and weekends to inspect your facility when your machines are idle.
Live Testing Capabilities
Where isolation is impossible (e.g., Server Rooms or Cold Stores), we utilize visual inspection and thermal thermography to verify safety without killing the power.
Phased Testing
For large-scale facilities, we can structure a 3-year or 5-year rolling programme, testing 20% of your site annually to spread the cost and minimize operational impact.

Clear Reporting, Actionable Data
The days of deciphering illegible handwritten certificates are over. Greentech provides a fully digital workflow designed for the modern Technical Manager.

Upon completion of testing, you receive a typed, photo-verified Cloud-Based Report.
1
Coded Fault Analysis
We clearly categorize issues using standard industry codes: C1 (Danger Present), C2 (Potentially Dangerous), and C3 (Improvement Recommended).
2
Remedial Solutions
We don't just hand you a fail sheet and walk away. Your report includes an instant, itemized quote to rectify any C1 or C2 faults, allowing you to secure budget approval and return to compliance immediately.

We Don't Just Find Faults, We Fix Them
An "Unsatisfactory" EICR leaves your business vulnerable. Unlike testing-only agencies, Greentech is a full-service engineering firm. Our Remedial Team is ready to mobilize immediately following an inspection.
We repair damaged accessories, replace upgraded distribution boards, and rectify circuit faults efficiently. Once the remedial work is complete, we issue a "Satisfactory" EICR and an Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) for the new works, giving you a clean bill of health to present to your insurer.
Tailored Compliance for Your Environment
Electrical testing is not a "one-size-fits-all" service. The logistical challenges of a busy hospital differ vastly from those of a hazardous industrial plant. Greentech adapts our testing methodology to suit the operational rhythm of your sector.
Manufacturing & Heavy Industry
In high-output environments, downtime equals lost revenue. We specialize in Live Circuit Thermography and Out-of-Hours EICR Testing. Our engineers are experienced in working around heavy machinery, high-bay lighting, and complex 3-phase motor control centers (MCCs), ensuring your compliance audit never interferes with your production targets.
Education & Public Sector
We understand the strict scheduling windows required by schools and universities. Greentech deploys large-scale testing teams during School Holidays to inspect thousands of circuits within tight deadlines. All our engineers carry enhanced DBS Checks and safeguard training, ensuring total peace of mind for headteachers and estate managers.
Commercial Offices & Retail
For multi-tenant office blocks and retail parks, disruption must be invisible. We conduct Silent Hour Testing (evenings and weekends) to ensure computer servers, lifts, and lighting remain operational during business hours. We work directly with Landlords and Managing Agents to provide unified compliance reports across large property portfolios.
Testing & Compliance (EICR) FAQs
How often does a commercial property need an EICR?
Under the Electricity at Work Regulations, systems must be maintained to prevent danger. Guidance typically recommends a maximum interval of 5 years for Commercial Offices and Retail, and 3 years for Industrial environments due to the harsher operating conditions. High-risk areas may require annual testing.
Does Thermal Imaging replace a Fixed Wire Test?
No. Thermal Imaging is a powerful supplementary tool that finds heat issues, but it cannot verify Earth Loop Impedance or RCD trip times. A full EICR is required to certify the electrical integrity of the cables themselves. Greentech recommends combining both for a "Gold Standard" safety regime.
What happens if I get a C2 code on my report?
A C2 code means "Potentially Dangerous." While it does not require immediate isolation like a C1, it does mean your installation is "Unsatisfactory" and non-compliant. You must arrange for remedial work to fix this issue as a matter of urgency to satisfy your insurance obligations.
Is Your Certification Out of Date?
Don't wait for an insurance audit or a safety incident to find out. Secure your facility with a comprehensive compliance survey from Scotland’s Tier-1 engineering partner.
